About the Event
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8 week course -
Mindfulness offers us the space to pause, to breathe and come home to ourselves amidst the busyness of our lives.
It is the practice of slowing down and paying attention – so that we don’t miss the precious moments in our lives and can equally learn to deal more effectively with those times that may be stressful.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight week programme created and pioneered in the USA by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn over the past 35 years.
It is the most extensively researched programme for Mindfulness and has shown that developing mindfulness can have a significant positive effect on:
- Developing greater self awareness
- Increasing ability to manage stress
- Physical and psychological health
- Reducing anxiety and depression
- Reducing tension, anger and fatigue
- Enhancing relationships
- Increasing vitality
- Aiding better sleep
- Developing stronger immunity
The primary benefit of mindfulness is the way it helps us to see ourselves and our lives more clearly and to befriend ourselves and our own experience. The other benefits spring from this new way of seeing and “being with” ourselves. Mindfulness helps us to be more present with whatever is going on for us, and thus creates the space to make wiser decisions about how to proceed. It creates a space where we can explore being a little kinder with ourselves, whatever may be arising in our lives.
The course includes:
• Eight weeks of 2 1/4 hour classes
• A full day of Mindfulness on a Saturday in June (date to be decided) 1pm to 6pm at Tree of Life.
• An initial orientation to determine if this is the right course at the right time for you, as this is an intense course in Mindfulness Meditation
• CDs/Audio links and workbook to support your practice.
